A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Gresham Arthur Academy!
As the principal, I am honored to serve the students and families at this spectacular school. Our teachers are skilled in Direct Instruction methods and dedicated to their students and our GAA community. I am proud to be a part of such a talented and caring team. Together, we seek to build a culture of care with a growth mindset. We know that students can succeed by practicing our school motto: “Pay attention. Work hard. Get smart. Be proud!”
We believe that our instructional model is the most effective method of instruction for most students. The Direct Instruction model uses explicit instruction to teach carefully sequenced steps in order to build a solid foundation of understanding...mastery! We teach to mastery using many different strategies; positive behavior management, instructional level grouping and LOTS of practice. It’s a rigorous but rewarding pursuit!
GAA is an academic-focused school, but we also offer opportunities for enrichment, technology, physical education and music. We are happy to offer after-school clubs that vary quarterly. Our teachers and I acknowledge and reward fantastic academics, behavior and character in monthly assemblies and quarterly celebrations.
We deeply appreciate our GAA Parent Organization, as they actively fundraise to support our school and provide fun opportunities for our community. All parents of GAA students are encouraged to volunteer and get involved. It’s a great way to support our students and really get to know our school.
Our school community is a place where students, staff and families are valued and respected. We work together to provide a safe, welcoming environment in which all students thrive and love to learn! Gresham Arthur Academy is a wonderful community with a lot to offer. I am blessed to be a part of it and I hope you will be, too.
